Coaching: About the ProcessMy approach
The coaching process is flexible and will be designed to meet your needs.
Some particular characteristics of my approach include:
The Coaching Process
The coach acts as a guide to help you perceive your current situation more clearly and helps you develop the day-to-day practices, competencies and skills to progress – in your own way and at your own speed. The coach does not tell you want to do but asks questions and listens to help you clarify the coaching topic or topics, and suggestions what actions you want to take. I may ask you to take some simple tests to help identify your strengths and preferences in your life. The proecess usually include exercises or practices – self-observation, writing, actions – that you can do to increase your self-perception, build your understanding, create new habits and develop important life skills. Whether we are exploring a smaller or larger concern in your life (and often they are related), we look for practical first steps that you can take. Together we will help identify barriers to change and find ways to work with them. I will suggest possible exercises, but in the end you get to make the choice about which ones you want to pursue. We may do some exercises within a coaching session, and others you will undertake between sessions. The coaching process can go in many directions and each course of coaching sessions will be unique. Coaching: From the International Coach Federation's description:"Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives. Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources and creativity that the client already has." |
